Now I use Askimet, and I don't remember seeing a single spam comment being let through. By banning unregistered commenters (which seems reasonable - as a matter of courtesy, people ought to say who they are if they are going to post their two penn'orth) and then blocking spam bots (as I outlined in my fix over on wordpress.org), I've (I hope) prevented spam comments on my wordpress blog (which isn't the one I link to above).
