About Mambo and Joomla

Mambo and Joomla are both powerful open-source content management systems. They allow you to maintain a Web site for a company or organization without having you to know any language to get off the ground. They provide many features and will suit a wide range of applications, from small informational sites to large online communities.

Mambo was the original project. It was sponsered by Miro Software Solutions, an Australian software company specializing in Web development. The project was later passed over to the Mambo Foundation, who currently manages the structure and funding for the mambo project.

Joomla was the result of some of the original Mambo developers leaving the project and borrowing the codeset to make their own project. This is legally allowed under the terms of the open-source license that Mambo is under. More than a year after the start of the Joomla project, there is a soaring userbase for this branch.

The reason why Michael P. Web Solutions advertises services for both of these products is because ath the time of writing, the two products are funtionally similar. They share a familiar interface and have the same major underlying architecture. With the release of Joomla 1.5, although the product will sport a revamped design and framework, Michael P. Web Solutions will continue to support it, as part of our commitment to our customers.
